Just a quick questions, if the oil level reads "L" - Low. How much oil(quart) is still in the engine?
I have always heard that on Hondas the oil volume from L to H is exactly 1 quart.

Good to hear that most owners also burn about 1 quart every 3,000 miles.

5.1 qt - 1 qt = 4.1 qt

AP1s burn oil, usually about a quart every 1,000 miles. If your dipstick was "almost" dry, you're down a quart.
so is the AP2 just a better engine? I haven't noticed any oil loss so far

No. It would just be the design intentions of Honda with the AP1's. Several posters say 3k per quart so, accept that as average.

Some oil "blow by" on the cylinder walls is desirable on a high revving engine.

bs....I've owned numerous sportbikes that rev to 12k and NONE of them used oil...blow-by is never good, it leaves nasty deposits

it's either a design flaw or poor break-in

correct me if im wrong, but bikes arent supposed to last over 100K.

How does the F22 compare in terms of oil consumption?

Bikes last fine to 100K.
Several guys that I ride with have over 100K on their sportbikes.
The bikes are 01' GSXR 600, 00' F4, 03' SV650, and an older VFR (don't know what year). All on original engines, the SV650 still on the original clutch.

I've never sold a bike with less than 30K on the odometer and none have had a single issue...people just take car of motorcycles worse than cars. It's a weekend toy that they run as hard as their bravery can take them...but properly maintained, they're just as reliable (wear/tear parts go quicker though).
