Default engine problem... anyone care to guess?

Recently and becoming more frequently, my engine stutters when I'm accelerating, usually beginning as soon as VTEC kicks in, but sometimes before. What the heck is wrong with my car now?

I've filled the tank with good gas, so I know it's not water in the gas, and the oil level is fine.

Sondra,

This sounds simular to the MAP sensor problem that others have had. The dealers seem to be able to pickup on that pretty quick and they replace it under warranty. That is the only thing I could think of since you know the gas is good.

Do a search on 'MAP' there are a number of threads on it.

Goodluck, I hope your Stook gets back to normal soon.

I had my map sensor replaced and it still happens, but less frequently than before. Someone else has mentioned the IAT sensor as being the true problem.

I would try swapping out the map sensor with one of the other S2k's. If it works, you now have some "friendly advise" to give to the dealer.

Good luck.

It is also possible that your fuel filter is loaded with water from an old tank, or some condensation...
