Default Engine rattle on startup

Every time I start my car there is a sort of high pitched rattling/screeching sound which sounds like it may be from the exhaust, but I'm not sure. Is anyone familiar with this? I have an 05 with around 76,000 miles and it is stock apart from no airbox lid and the insulation under the hood was removed.

thought I should add: the car starts up fine and the sound is only for a couple seconds, it's just annoying.

So its only when the engine is cold, or every time you start the engine?

I checked oil yesterday and it's stiill fine, which means it was fine when I posted this. It happens more often when the engine isn't warmed up but I'm not sure what the cause might be. I can't seem to discern whether it was somehow caused by me taking the sound insulation and airbox cover out of the engine compartment or whether that just allowed me to hear it better, because I didn't notice it until I removed them.

I have the screech also on my 05. I thought it was a heat shield rattling at first. But now I think it is the starter sticking.

Timing chain tensioner? I've had 8-9 s2ks and all of them but one had that that same timing chain issue.

I think know exatly the sound you're talking about. Its only SOMETIMES and its only on cold starts right?

I always wanted to find out what it is, but ahve no friend to start the car up for me. And when I do have a friend, it doens't make the noise...

I don't know...
