engine sound
I recently purchased a preowned s2000 (2000 w/ 28k miles) and I've got a question regarding engine noise. In any gear, when I rev the engine to about 3-4k and just let go of the accelerator, the engine makes a vibrating sound (with a little bit of metallic vibrating) until it drops to about 2000 rpms. It sounds like what a loose exhaust would sound like (altho the sound is coming from the engine). However, at higher RPM's, when I stop depressing the accelerator, the engine doesn't make this sound and sounds smooth while the rpm's drop; that is, until it reaches about 3-4k's and starts making the sound again.
I know this is a real general description and it's hard to really diagnose things like this through mere descriptive words, but does anyone have any clue what this sound is, if it's common on s2k's, and how to fix it? The car is under warranty so I will bring it in for diagnosis, but I'd like the expertise of the users on this forum as well.
Thanks in advance.
