I am picking up my 02 silver s2000 tomorrow and am already shopping for wheels. I am having trouble looking at wheels that are upwards of $550 each. I would like to upgrade the wheels but am concerned about weight and durability. I found some great looking bbs like wheels on discounttire.com, and they are half of the cost off BBS.

Before I get flamed, I live in Chicago where the roads suck! The idea of spending 500-600 on a wheel only to have it dessimated by a pot hole just does not appeal to me. If I lived in Cali or out west, I would splurge for the wheels.

1. Does anybody have information on what the stock wheels weigh? The 18inch enkei's I'm looking at around 17.5 to 18 pounds each. Also what affect would this have on performance.

2. Does anybody have any suggestions for wheels on a budget?

Thanks everbody!

Congrats on your S . I budgeted about 3200-4000 for my wheels. I just ordered some 2 piece Intro Forged wheels with blackcenters and a polished lip for my 2002 Spa. 18 x 8 ,18 x 9.5 and 225/40-18 , 265/35-18 Dunlop Sport 9000.
Don't forget that you just bought a premium car, don't buy cheap wheels. Also, forged wheels are lighter and stronger than regular cast wheels. Good luck !!! I' m sure you'll make a wise decision,

Somebody correct me, aren't factory rims Enkei's?? I know most honda factory rims are.

Donno about the U.S. Spec Enkei's you find at Discount Tires...but i've had a set of Enkei RS Evolution imported waaaaay back when. Dented it only once by hitting a huge hole on the freeway...(75mph, rainy night), otherwise they have survived ok through 70k miles of abuse. For S2000, personally i would go with something lighter...its a great car, treat it nice.

Centerlines don't fit our S2000's. They have a 40mm offset.

philipf22,
Have tried the discount tires store around our area (Mt. Prospect, Palatine, Elgin, Joliet). If you are interested for Volk racing wheels let me know I will try to get you a pricing for which wheel with tires you want from my hook up. They can give me a 17" volk racing wheels with nitto 555 tires for $2500.
