EPA Certificate
Hi Guys,
I'm about to import a S2000 from the US to my country (Colombia) but my government requires an emission certificate of the car I'm about to import. The Miami Honda dealer tells me that new cars don't get any kind of certificate like the one I need.
And the people down here say that there IS a certificate and it's like this one but it has to be for the 2005 S2000.
Does anyone has this certificate or maybe someone knows someone in the EPA that might be able to help me?
I've tried to email them (EPA) but I don't get any replies!
Help me guys!!!

who are you using as freight forwarder? If they are experienced in shipping cars, they usually have pretty good agents/contacts that can help...
Never seen an S2K in Bogota...awesome!

That's exactly the problem, no one has ever imported a s2000 to colombia. That's why I need the certificate! One of the import requirements is that the car's approved by OUR eviromental agency. Anyway I try to do it, they all end with that particular requirement. And I'm runnig out of time because the car is a 2005 and it must be registered before december 31th 2005

New cars themselves don't come with this certificate. But when a manufacturer designs and sells a new vehicle, they are required to have a certificate like this on file with corporate. This way, the new cars don't have to get an emissions test the first time they are registered. So, most likely, you can get a copy of this from Honda North America. Notice on the certificate you provided a link to, there is no VIN--meaning the certificate applies to ALL 2004 Ford F150s.

Again....which forwarder are you using to export the car?
I'm going to phone Honda customer service today as the dealer hasn't helped with this. Will let you know how it goes (fingers crossed

If the car is new, it will have a "Certificate of Origin" from the manfacturer that will state the car meets all 50 states US emissions requirements (including the strict ones in California) Not sure if this will help though
good luck!
good luck!
I just spoke with Honda customer service and they said that those kind of documents are handled by the US customs!?!
I'm starting to think that maybe I'll get "bounced" from one person to another....

why dont you deal with a shipping company that has some experience in importing cars into your country???
This shouldnt be your responsibility - any decent shipping company will know exactly where to get these documents and will normally handle all the paperwork for you (for a fee of course).
