Default Ethanol conversion?

So I am bored at work and looking into random things. Today's topic being running ethanol in the S. As I understand it, any cars made after 1988 are pretty much safe to run high concentrations of ethanol in as they are prepped for increasing ratios in standard pump gas. However you will need to use more due to the lower amount of energy held per gallon.

So my questions are:

Has anyone tried it?

While fuel consumption increases, so does octane, would there be a way to tune the engine to be able to get more out of the fuel? For instance changes in ignition timing, different temperature spark plugs, more aggressive tunes?

Larger benefits for the FI club, seeing as how higher boost could be ran thanks to the lower combustion temperatures (koenigsegg ccxr uses this principle to get over 1k hp).

It will be pretty hard to increase comp ratio without milling the head, which then eliminates your ability to drive outside of the corn belt. The best solution is to turbo the motor to take full advantage of the richer ethanol mixes.

E10 perhaps, but no way E85. Only specific E85 aka FlexFuel vehicles can handle it, and there aren't a whole lot of those from what I understand. The hight alcohol content of E85 would break down lots of the components of a regular fuel car.
