Default Exhaust

Has anyone out there tried the Borla exhaust for an s2000. I like the sound it creates for my viper - I didn't know how it would sound on a honda?

Also - has anyone used Penske shocks on their Honda?

Does anyone know any additional links for honda parts etc? And does anyone here know a good mechanic in the Seattle, WA area?

thanks - bill

talk to RT about the mechanics.

some people have the borla, don't know what it sounds like, but it's probably similar to neuspeed's sound.

The s2k handles MUCH better. (considering both stock) - I do wish that the shocks on the S2k where stiffer by default rather than myself having to purchase better ones. (I have the ACR Viper - therefore the stock shocks and springs where nice) But it doesn't nearly corner or brake as well as the s2k.

I've got on order the new model (2003) Viper - it promises to address some of the braking & handling issues. (I guess we'll have to wait and see.)

thanks - bill

It'll no doubt sound good. All Borla exhausts I've heard have the best overall sound quality. Never heard one on a Viper, but I know on my buddies '99 Trans Am with the G2 (I think thats what its called) intake and the borla system, it sounds unbelievable.

But, to tell you the truth, I think its a waste of money. I would get the Borla XR-2, which is a titanium racing muffler. Weighs something like 2 lbs. Get a shop to run a custom single exhaust from the cat back. MUCH cheaper, probably get more power, less weight, and sound awesome. When I have the money, (hopefully next month), thats what I'm planning on doing.

Jason Saini, Juliann, and Solo2racer have the Penskes, but they are on the road to the ProSolo and Solo II nationals in Topeka at the moment. You should PM Jason for more info on that. HTH!

Borla XR2 - do you know anyone in the Seattle area that could do the work you're talking about on the Honda? (I only know dodge mechanics).

LOL. Um....well....I'll tell ya what I'm gonna do. Open up the yellow pages and find the first place thats a muffler shop in the WORST part of town. Call, and get an estimate. Never the nice places in town. It is not really something you need a good mechanic for. Hell, I know enough about welding where I could do it. It would look like shit, but who cares, its exhaust. No, honestly, any muffler shop can do it, but generally the ones in bad areas are cheaper, and you don't need a great welder to do it. I had a guy put a borla system on my Toyota truck for like 40-50 bucks. Of course, as goes with Borla, it didn't fit and he had to cut some pipe and weld it back.

Speaking of which, how well did you Viper system fit? I hear the 'Vette system, which runs about $1800, doesn't fit worth crap.

I have just ordered the Borla catback exhaust. Should arrive in 2 - 4 weeks. I'll keep you posted as to the sound and feel.
