if you don't reset it, the car will eventually adapt to the new settings over time, but resetting the ecu will make it immediate.

I'm sure that most of the opinions you will get will be biased, and mine is no exception.
With that said, I love my Invidia exhaust. I leave the silencers in, because it is way to loud for my wife if they are out. It has a nice mellow sound at Idle, with a mean growl on exceleration, and a smoother transition to Vtec. I love the full polished stainless steel look from the rear. Also, it was only $680 installed locally!

UR makes a turbo exhaust.
if you don't like custom exhausts, the amuse r1000 has a very straight-through design, with no cat. the piping has to be 2.75"+ which is pretty close to 3".
