Default Exhaust & Dyno

OK. I give up. I've just wasted 4 hours trying to search and then read through old posts without finding my answer. Did find some interesting posts, though.

I recently installed a JIC titanium single exhaust. The main reason was weight reduction. 12lbs vs OEM 58lbs. Sound is horrible - almost as bad as a genuine ricer fart can.

Performance wise, it seems that there is more power 3,000 to 6,000 RPM and the transition into V-Tech is smoother. Has anyone done any Dyno testing to compare various exhaust systems? Am I getting an accurate assessment from the seat of my pants?

Also installed a set of Koni shocks and threw away the shipping blocks in the front springs. That reduced understeer a bunch. It did push like a pig before.

Car is a 2001 model with 65,00 miles.

as far as i've read, the jic exhaust has a serious bottleneck into the resonator, and it's gains aren't that high.

there are a few dynoes floating around, but the general consensous is a 70mm single exit exhaust will yield the highest gains, especially with a test pipe installed also.

your car has 65,000 miles and still had the shipping blocks in the springs?!?

"your car has 65,000 miles and still had the shipping blocks in the springs?!?"

That's right. The guys at the local dealer were going to contact the original dealer and tease them a bit.

This particular system only has a pipe straight from the cat back to a flow through muffler - no resonator.

The difference in handling is amazing without the shipping blocks. NO MORE PUSH!!!!

Uhhh.... I said not quite as bad as a genuine fart can. Resonance is bad.

Of course I am predudiced. I like the sound of the Cleveland Symphony playing behind the seat through an Ansa Euro GTS exhaust system.
