Hi i am looking on purchasing a set of new exhaust soon. my question is is there an actual difference between the HKS exhaust and the Mugen ones. (sound-wise and Performance-wise) also if i do get the HKS ones what exactly are they called? are they the hks hipers? BTW if i do get the hks exhaust will the mugen headers still fit on them?

Thanks Mike

DJHohum,

I heard that the Mugen exhaust sounds deeper, and more subtle than the HKS. As far as performance, I think the differences are negligable.

But, from what I remember...the Mugen exhaust weights around 15-20 pounds lighter than stock because it's titanium, the HKS is 10 pounds lighter.

Yes, the HKS exhaust is the Hiper exhaust.

It doesn't matter which header and exhaust setup you combine or mix, because they both attach to the catalitic converter.

Headers -> Catalitic Converter -> Exhaust Manifold

Shoot, I forgot to give you my overall opinion.

For a more subtle look and sound, go for Mugen.

For a more sporty look and sound, go for HKS.

I like the HKS.

S2000Spoon, nevermind, found your comment on another thread -- Corvis GT Wing. Good stuff.

Let me ask you, since it's adjustable, do you find it making any noticeable difference in handling at medium & high speeds for any of the wing's settings?

Hi Steve,

Do you get any smoke using the HKS?

This video shows the HKS exhaust being revved up with lots of exhaust smoke...

http://www.bmwclub.org.hk/gallery/videostr...s2000/s2000.mpg

I use a decat exhaust on our other car wrx sti6typer and dont get any smoke at all. Maybe the S2000 is more prone to smoke since its got 3 cats from factory ?
