An exhaust system that actually adds power?

why do single exhausts produce more power?

becuase there is only one header so the single is the fastest way out of the system. The dual systems split the exhaust flow from the one header making it not as efficent

The only way dual exhausts are the most effitent is if they are true dual (meaning there are two headers and an exhaust all the way back from each of them).
You can still gain a little power/save weight with some duals, but singles are usually going to make more power/save more weight. I'm ordering the Spoon N1 in a couple of days because I love the look/sound . T1R 70R is probably the best bet if you want to make power and not spend a ton on Amuse R1000/J's 70RR.

I have the apex-i N1 single, I'm not sure about power gains, maybe a little but it sounds great (loud but not an annoying loud and absolutely no zippering sound) and is definetely very lighter than the stock dual.
