I would think that tp and header would gain more hp, but the tp and cat-back will probably sound better.
If you going to do two out of three, header and exhaust you might as well spend another 100 and do the tp as well. Get the whole system done.

I've only heard soundclips and videos. But I would love to hear them both in person.

If you want power, the bottom line is you're going to get noise. There's a reason why race cars don't sound like mini vans. I don't see the sense in "upgrading" to a dual exhaust that gives you approx 3-5rwhp if that. the problem is, aftermarket duals are essentially the same design as the stock exhaust, with slightly bigger piping and different mufflers. They don't save a lot of weight, they don't make a lot more power. A good single has been shown to make close to 15rwhp. I can promise you one thing, if you go with a dual exhaust (even with a test pipe) you probably won't notice a thing. The dynojet will notice 6rwhp, your butt dyno will not. Just something to think about before spending a lot of money on an "upgrade." As far as a header goes, are you looking for peak hp or midrange? The Mugen makes the best midrange hp, but virtually nothing above 8,200rpm. The Toda and J's are a nice compromise, making over 10hp midrange, and 2-5hp peak. FYI several aftermarket single exhausts are header-back, so you could basically do all 3 mods with 2 parts.

I have a tp w/ t1r 63mm single. I would like to go to a 70mm system but all the singles are header back right? I want an exhaust I can swap my cat back in to smog.

The J's racing 70mm single is header back. Also the Amuse single exhausts are header back.

I want the gains but singles are just too loud!
The J's 60RS isn't loud at all. I was hoping it was gonna be louder, i might have to upgrade to a 70RR.

my only thing with singles is that they dont look as nice as the duals. Are there any duals that when paired with a header and TP will give me gains I can feel (especially mid range)?

Any header made for the my04+ will fit my06 without any issues right? The only thing that has fitting issues is some exhaust, alot of intakes and no probs with the headers right?
