Arrow Experience with airbox cover off.....

So I was curious and removed the cover off last weekend.

Had a stroll around my suburb to get the engine warm.

Then went to a straight flat road to test the sound.

Ramped up the rpm then at the VTEC engagement point 6.5k my car bogged down! The feeling was like power up power up power up then bang power down.

It was noticeable as hell as sound was getting louder then it was gone. It scared the sh1t all out of me. Thought engine was crippled or something.

Put the cover back on and it went fine.

Tried again and same thing happened. It was ok below 6k though.

Nb: car is bone stock.

bogged? I've never had that happen to me before with the almost year and a half with the cover off.

No idea wtf was going on.

It's winter here so heat is not an issue.

Sounds like you didn't let it warm up all the way. If you try to hit Vtec before a certain temp the ecu won't let you rev into vtec.

In my experience the vtec threshold is somewhere between 2 and 3 bars. I've had it happen to me with two but have also been able to hit vtec with two. I'm sure that was all that happened and your car is fine.

also it could be the fact that the vtec "pull" wasn't as noticeable because the intake is getting more air, and straightens out the vtec dip a bit..

but i dunno.
