Default Ext Warranty Programs

And in specific- Warrantech.
I just rec'd this offer today and am wondering if anyone has any positives or negatives to add.
The program appears to be very comprehensive and covering:
Engine, MT, Cooling and heating, Electrical, Brakes(minus pads), AC ,Drive axle, Diff case and bearings, Steering, Front suspension, Turbo charger ($273 add-on premium),Fuel System, Ext/int latches springs and handles, Motel and resturant bills(up to $75 per day for 3 days/$225 total if stranded 100mile or more, and Towing($75 remb.) Roadside assistance which may overlap AAA type plans.
The cost: $690/64k, $794 /74k, $833/84K, $898/100k all with unlimited time.
I'm seriously considering the 64k plan. $50 deductable each occurance.
This appears to be even better than Honda's 36/36 and could provide some extra reassurance even during the initial factory warranty.
I'm going to buy this plan unless I hear some pretty good reasons not to.
Thanks for listening.

Pardon my ignorance if this is already very obvious but, where do you take your car to get serviced under this warranty? Would they let you take the car to any shop and Warrantech would simply cover the repair costs? Or do they require that a Honda dealer give the car a once over and OK any necessary repairs?

Sounds good, I might have to look at that policy. The fact that you may choose your own facility is a huge plus. Honda Dealerships are typically a bitch when it comes to warranty issues. I think they would rather deny all claims, even when the money is no coming out of their pockets.

To begin with, this is REALLY the wrong forum for this.

Second, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but historically speaking... These things are a rip off. Reguardless of what it says, these places can wiggle a bus through the eye of a needle to get out of paying a claim.

1. They'll claim it was modified.
2. They'll claim it was abuse.
3. They'll claim that specific part is not covered.

With the half page of things they claim to cover, is 50 pages of if's, and's, or but's, about what they won't cover and why.

Don't be a sucker. NEVER buy extended warranties as you WILL get screwed.

Excellent points, and even with knowledge of Magnusson backing you up, they really never stand behind the warranty. I guess the best thing for us to do is enjoy the first 36k.
