Default F22 in AP1

Im about to swap in a F22 into my AP1.
I am noticing that the F22s seem to be cheaper then the F20s. Any reason why? Is there something im missing here?

I was under the impression the F22 was the better version. (better retainers, doesn't burn oil etc)

Nothing bad other than having an 8k rev limit... Cover up your redline with a post it.

If you are buying a rebuilt AP1 engine request that the weak parts be updated. My AP1 is a 2000 and never burnt oil. It comes down to 2.2 for a bit more torque or 2.0 for the award winning version.

I don't think the retainers were updated until the AP2 came out. Do you have any proof of your claim? Im not arguing with you, I actually would love for it to be true since I have a late 02 model.

Same old arguments there as well (summed up in a post above). Better depends on what you're after. Same as it is with any topic.

Intake retainers were only changed in 2004+ , the ap1 retainers were not faulty and will not crack unless you over-rev the engine above 9700 rpms or so, if you haven't over-revved the engine they can last the life of the engine. It was just the oil jet bolts that changed in the 2002 build year.
