Default Fabrication question--ITB

Do you know if the B16/B18 intake manifold runner similar or close to the S2000 intake manifold runners in spacing?

I gotten an ITB for B16-B18, I would like to cut the S2000 runner and match the
pipe intake of the ITB....do you think it will work?

Thanks

anything will work if you're cutting.

I doubt it will even be close...your best bet will be to cut the runners off the flange and make a new flange from scratch...then all you have to do is line up the runners to the ports and line up your linkages. Don't forget to check provisions for the coolant passage at the back of the manifold.

Thanks----yeah I can do that, but I'm trying to shortcut the job. I thought maybe
the S2000 is close in spacing like the B16-18.

Perhaps what I can do is cut the runner of the S2000 and match it. If its too far apart, then cut the whole darn thing ( as you said)---fabricate that will match to the ITB.

Wildcard----One more question...

I can see your setup is ITB. Do I need to buy AEM ecu?
What happen if I put ITB and use the stock Honda ECU? Does it produce any power?

Can you tell me how much power you harness in ITB setup?

You will need an AEM EMS or equivalent standalone to run ITB's. In order to run right, you'll need the wideband O2 model (1052U), and at least 440cc/min injectors. I baselined stock, with AEM EMS, and then finally AEM EMS + ITB's. My EMS run on a stock engine put the stock 320cc/min injectors at 64% duty cycle at 100% engine load at 9000 rpm. My ITB setup uses SVT 440cc/min injectors, and they peak at 66% at 100% load @ 9000 rpm. My timing map and fuel map look very, very different from the stock maps. The ITB setup may fire with the stock computer, but it will run like crap and probably run very, very lean, since the stock ecu looks for the narrowband O2 sensor, among many other things, and you'll need to spend a great deal of time dialing in each pill on the fuel and timing maps to get it to run smooth...but once you do....oh boy
Here are my dyno's:
Baseline 186rwhp 122 ft/lbs

AEM EMS and AEM EMS + ITB comparison...the blue line is my car with JUST the AEM EMS, the redline is with ITB's and AEM EMS.

This is my latest tune:

My final delta (plotted in excel from dyno graphs)

Hope that helps. There's a great thread on ITB's in the JDM tuning section. You'll find alot of very useful information in there, plus you can ask me just about anything ITB...I've been fine tuning mine for almost a year now

Nice power WILD!!
Thanks you for your feedback

See the only think I worry is tuning it. If you said, you've been tuning it for over a year now, I don't have time to fool around that long.
Two things I can do, let the dyno man do the tuning, pay so much money and done and over with.
The next one---your dyno produced 215, My lotus 7 weigh in @ 1,100 lbs with the S2000 engine. I wonder, if I can get 215 because of the weight. Any thought?

weight's not going to be a variable to making horsepower, since the dyno could care less how much your car weighs. Putting that power to the ground with that little weight might be, but I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that since you're running a Lotus 7 clone, you're probably on R-comps, and since we don't make tons of torque with this motor, your setup should absolutely fly. I've seen a lotus 7 w/ an F20C on the roadcouse at Gainseville...that thing was f'ing cool, but he had the stock manifold with a K&N cone shoved onto the stock throttle body
Since your car is probably only going to see track days / spirited driving, your part throttle settings only need to be eyeballed in. The WOT tuning must be done on the dyno, so technically, once you tune it, you should be set. I can give you some idle range fuel and timing data if you end up using stock internals and roughly the same size injectors and fuel pressure I do (46psig) to get it to start up and idle smooth everytime once you're up and running.
