Default Factory Car Alarm

I bought my s2k used back in August and I was wondering if I actually have an alarm on my car or not. I have the keyless entry etc. My question is how do i know if my car has an alarm or not? I can open my car door with the top down by unlocking it from the inside without using the keyless entry and nothing happens. So how do you make the stock alarm go off?

Thanks,
Raymond

The Honda security system is an option that mounts under the drivers seat. I think you could look under the seat with a flashlight and there's probably an additional relay or two somewhere in the car. Maybe someone who has installed one can tell you where to look and see if you have those relays installed. I have read a few posts about the Honda security system and most folks weren't very impressed.

Good luck.

The relays are right beside the factory alarm unit under the seat. Just stick your hand under the seat and feel for it. It is a large 4" x 5" x 3/4" box with two smaller relays mounted with it.

ok I'll check for that relay and stuff under my seat, but the real question is now, what will actually set off the factory alarm to make sure it's still working? I mean I would think being a convertible that i would not be able to unlock the door without using a key or keyless entry without setting off the alarm. and input on this?

Try starting the car after engaging the "alarm". That should be the main test.

That should set off any alarm (factory or not) that is enabled. If doing that doesn't set off an alarm, then you either don't have one or it's disabled.

Try locking your car with your girl in passenger seat, if doing that doesn't set off an alarm, then you don't have one. J/K
