Default Factory S2K Car Cover : is it rain-proof?

have only owned my2000 for a few days now. came with the factory s2k car cover (w/ red s2000 logo and storage bag), ive tried looking online, and all i can see is that the cover is "breathable" and "weatherproof", but is it waterproof? it doesnt feel like a boat cover, and the inside is suede or something, it doesnt seem like it is supposed to get wet. before i end up leaving this thing outside with the cover on, can anyone tell me if its waterproof?

thanks

It will be fine if left out in the rain. I had to do it once and all that happened is the cover stretched out a little bit.

Its a dust cover. If you were to keep it stored inside a garage. No cover is water proof, that would cause mold to grow underneath. I would use the evolution or Noah car cover if you keep it outside. It does a great job!

The factory cover isn't waterproof. If it rains a little it will be ok but anything more than a little rain will soak thru. You also want UV protection, the sun does more damage to paint than rain. Look for Noah or Weathershield if you're going to park outdoors.

Are the aftermarket covers mentioned as good a fit as the OEM? The proper Honda one does look to fit rather well, and I'd like a cover that emulated that.

Yes, I have had the Evolution for over 2.5 years and it has been the best cover I have owned. It has mirror pockets, antenna pocket, and fits snug around the car. They make it specifically for the car, not universal. Mine has never blown off, the only time I tied it in the center was when I was at the beach in a hurricane. I have heard good things about the Noah too, alittle more expensive.

Yup they're custom fit so it's easy to put on and it won't blow off. I got mine here:

I got the Noah because I park outdoors - I didn't want the sun damage that I got on my previous car. It doesn't rain much where I live so I didn't need the Weathershield.

I had a weathershield and it was way better than the oem cover. it was about 1/3 the size and did not let water through

oem car cover is more of an indoor/garage dust cover. if your car is parked mostly outside then I would also suggest a weathershield hp as it is more resistant to rain, dust, uv, snow, etc.
