Feedback needed on ride quality with 17/18" rims?
I cannot decide if 18's will compromise the ride too much for me. I live in LA and the roads arn't that smooth in most places anyway and the ride is firm right now, i am worried about stepping up to 18's.
So i would like to hear your thoughts and opinions on your 18's and if you went back to 17's after that, what were the reasons for doing so?
The more info provide the (obviously) more helpful it will be for me!
Thanks in advance,
Joshua.
MODS: please don't move, i posted in the wheel and tire forum, but it has ZERO traffic in there and i need responses quick.

well, whether you got responses or not doesnt mean it was in the wrong place - and its not in the right place here.
Ill leave it alone for you tho for a while so hopefully someone will respond.
FWIW I was running 17s, and running 18s now, but my car is still in storage so I cannot answer your question with personal experience on the S. What I can say though is, in order to keep the OD of your wheel/tire combo, you will need to reduce the sidewall size of you 18" tire - and with less rubber, the ride will become harsher - how much that is in quantifiable terms im not sure anyone could say.
btw... i edited your title to hopefully get you a better response

I bought 18" Volks about a mont ago and drive 70 +/- miles per day. The ride is much stiffer due to the smaller sidewall on the tire ( im running 225/40/18's front and 245/35/18 on the rear) The car handles about the same but I do spend alot of time spotting/dodging pot holes. Go for it
Hope this helps

I have a marital problem and I don't want to post it in Off Topic. Those guys simply don't have any feelings. Can I post this in here since it's got more traffic and a better caring bunch of people?
ps. Sorry for the thread hijack but I don't want to start a new thread. I can get more attention if I post in someone else's.

If you got nothing positive to say viper, say nothing. I don't think you are funny. Ever.
I'm a fireman and when someone like you gives me a dumbass order, I'll make bloody sure I do exactly the opposite. You just gave me an open invitation.
So no, when it comes to people like you, I make a point of saying whatever I like, even if it is the MOST negative thing I can think of. Oh, and believe me, after this, it's only going to get more negative day by day. Welcome to my world.
You don't think I'm funny? Good. I don't need you to thing I'm funny. I just got your attention. I don't think you're special. Ever.

A lot of people here arent accouting for physics. I have 18s, which replaced my 16s.
The ride is MUCH nicer. Everyone who sat in my car said it is a lot less rough, and smoother. The car handles better, and MUCH better in the wet.
Why? Because the tires are much wider. Wider tires spread the load and disperse bumps much better than OEMs. 18s dont have as much to do as how wide they are. Get a 9.5 in rear rim, and youll feel a WORLD of difference.
