Default Feeling OK about plastic rear window.

Last night I was meeting some friends for dinner in Palo Alto, CA, a mecca for expensive cars. In the 20 minutes it took me to park I saw a new M3, new M3 convertible. new 911 convertibles and turbos, M-B S55 AMG, etc. etc. I ended up taking a parking spot as a new M5 was pulling out. Anyway to the story. There was a BMW Z8 driving around at the same time. Cool looking car, but a PLASTIC window. It's condition was cloudy and scratched, no better than ours. Well for the $128K that they cost and the near 100% mark-up, I figure he paid close to $225K for it, I would have expected a glass window.

So I gonna live with my plastic window, and not complain.

Andy

Even some Ferraris have plastic rear window. It is just a reason for media and lazy people to complain. YES, a glass rear window would be nice, however it isn't an issue that makes me enjoy the car less. This reminds me, i have to clean my window.

Sounds like the guy in the Z8 could use a can of Plexus. You would think that if he couls afford a car like that, he could afford someone to detail his car correctly.

And it's not just the Z8. Other luxury makes with plastic RWs include: Mercedes, Ferraris (as mentioned above), and the ultimate: Bentleys! Yes, horror of horrors, a quarter-million-dollar luxo-boat convertible comes standard with a plastic rear window!!

Moral: Plastic rear windows are just not that bad, people! Learn to take car of it and it'll outlive the car!

Sheesh.
