Default a fellow S2000 owner helps out.....

I took my car into the dealership today to get my oil changed and my differential fluid changed. I had talked to the service writer previously about the differential fluid, asking what they used. He said they use Redline 75w90 GL5 diff fluid. (which is what we are supposed to use). So I gave him the keys and he took it back to get the service done. It was going to be $69 for the diff fluid change and like $29 for the oil change. (i am now allowed to change oil and do work on my car at my apartment per the management, otherwise i would do it myself)

I then went over to talk to the parts guy (since I'm friends with him) and he said they don't have any Redline GL5 fluid in stock. I went back out to the service writer and told him I would just get the oil change because of this. He said he knows we have GL5 fluid, but he thought it was next door at the Nissan dealership. (there are 2 dealerships with the same owners on the same lot.... nissan and honda) However he made the comment that it was some generic crap they use for the Nissan 350Z. Having read the oil journals here on s2ki.com I felt better having redline. I told them if it wasn't redline I didn't want it.

So I'm waiting out in the main area, and this Nissan technician walks up to me, carrying a bottle of the 75w90 Redline Diff fluid. He introduced himself as Will and said he was a member of s2ki.com (HondaManWill I believe). I told him who I was and that I was a member and moderator of s2ki.com, etc, and he had mentioned that he had the bottle of Redline because that's what he uses on HIS S2000. Unfortunately the dealership did not have any in stock, and I didn't have any cash on me to buy the fluid from him.

So, in the spirit of helping an S2000 owner out, he was kind enough to not only give me his own bottle of the diff fluid, but then also did the change of the fluid himself. He said any time I wanted work done on my S2k I could request him to come down from the Nissan building and do it, since he does his own S2k, used to be a honda tech, and is quite picky about his car as well.

In the end I got charged $29 for the labor for the diff fluid and then the charge for the oil change, so it even saved me about $30.

I definitely owe hondamanwill for giving me his bottle of diff fluid, and doing the labor as well. Thought it would be a cool story to share.

Thanks again Will!!!

That's awesome. It just goes to show that there are still a few decent people in this world of ours. to HondamanWill.

Very cool story!!!

Now, go buy a replacement bottle of Redline and a couple of movie passes and drop them off to Will next time you go by the dealership.

I'm glad to hear that. It's good there are some people out there who actually care enough about the cars to go the extra mile just to do the right thing.

For what it's worth, I would have done the same thing if I saw an S owner in trouble, and I would certainly hope anyone on this site would do the same. Kudos to HondaManWill and his kind behavior.
