Default felt a little frisky today....

Well i woke up this morning just wanting to do something different with the car, so i decided to just pull out the passenger seat, take out the spare, change kit, and some trunk lining. I figure i prolly saved somewhere around 80 pounds. (I didnt really care for passengers today anyways)...anywho, i took the car out all day and messed around with her. Surprisingly, my butt dyno felt a slight difference...nothing noticeable to anyone else except someone who drives the car everyday. It was kinda cool...in an obsessed car guy way. Anyways i felt the biggest (however minute it actually was) difference on a third gear highway pull. It just seemed to get there a wee bit quicker. Anyways, i figure this will motivate me to actually try and pull some extra weight. Inspiration if you will.

Just thought i should let everyone know

Dewey

I have a friend who was obsessed with removing the interior from his mustang. I bet he removed/installed it 50 times. I am talking about removing it down to the steel. He started out like you was just wondering if it would feel different without the seat/tools...next thing you know bare steel.

saved weight = free horsepower

Lol, I used to drive around in my VW R32 with the back seats taken out, one reason I convinced myself to get a very impractical S2000 as a daily driver. The rear seats weighed 70lbs I got the weight reduction bug and got a Braille Battery (11lbs.) and took out my fix-a-flat kit. I also kept the car under a half a tank of gas (gas weighs about 6lbs per gallon). With the over 100lbs weight reduction, the car felt much more responsive. My girlfriend suggested I do the ultimate weight reduction, a diet... but I really like to eat more than go fast.

Well, I removed the spare tire/ tools...and the biggest weight savings by far had to be the HKS hi power Single outlet exhaust ...it weighs practically nothing.

It's easy enough to work out. Stock car is around 11.7 lbs/hp, so a 80 pound weight reduction is the equivalent to a 6.8hp increase to a stock car.

What's just as important is that the weight reduction improves cornering and braking performance also.
