Fiero or S2000?
Recently I have encountered a engine head with a nice Fiero.
He claims that the S2000 is an expensive car with no performance.
In what ways would a 10+ year old car out performances the S2000?
Any Fiero owners are welcome to debate.
He said that "multigeared cars are useless (ex: 6speed), "8400 redline is useless (giggles)", and that a automatic properly configured Fiero (or any other car) would out perform any manual cars on the track"
I am a bit confused and lost.
I am sure his car is far more superior in terms of HPs and Torques, but what does that have to do with the S2000 lack of performance?

fiero had the engine in the back so it handles a little differently. the four cylinder ones were lead sleds. i had an 85 gt with a v6 that overcame the lack of power issues. bought it new in 85 and was happy with it at the time.
no comparison in power/speed to an s2k, something like 140hp and 17 sec 1/4 mile. it was small and fun to throw around corners, but i would not consider buying one now.

What track? A dragstrip? An auto Fiero (or any auto) would be more consistent in bracket racing. Maybe that's what he's talking about.
I hope he's not talking about a road course. I can imagine the fifteen year old GM transmission hunting for the right gear through a road course

Comets, I had an '87 Fiero GT, 5 sp. manual. It had the V-6 in it. That V-6 put out 140 HP. That's right - 140 measly stinking HP! If your "engine head" had a completely stock Fiero, then he is an ASS! That car weighed in at about the same as our S2000. With 140 HP, you do the math. It had a redline of around 6000 rpm. If Chev division hadn't bitched to GM about it, Pontiac would have made the Fiero into a Corvette beater. It was a very interesting design and I still think it looks great. In 1988, they finally made it the way it should have been from the very beginning (except for the powerplant, which remained the same). That was the only year they didn't use "Chevette" parts for the suspension. Yes, CHEVETTE parts.
NOW, if your "engine head's" car has been modified, then he might have some validity. There is a company based in Montreal that specializes in Fiero's. They have transplanted Buick Grank National 3.8L supercharged engines into those little beasts, along with beefed up drivetrains. THESE, you have to watch out for.

Compared to today's sportscars, a Fiero couldn't pull a dead whore out of bed.
Nothing against you Comets but your gear head friend evidently mistook a can of Redline Water Wetter for Poland Springs...he needs to be thawed out and introduced to the year 2003.
Once he's out of his cryogenic state, tell him we're up to 120hp per liter now and Keith Richards' face still looks like a baked potato.

I was just trying to be nice, no he isn't my friend
I guess you can't teach an old dog new trick. He is still trapped in his 80's with his mullet haircut. Oh well.
