Default filter wrench

i am gonna do my oil change soon and just found out my present wrench is too big for the oem filter. So i need to go out and buy another one.

could anyone reccomend a wrench to get at a local autoparts store? sears, kragen, pepboys, or autozone?

this is my first oil change, so i was wondering if it is possible to take the filter off by just using your hand?
so it is on factory tight as of now.

also later when i hit 10,000 miles i plan on running mobil 1 10w30, i was wondering what filter you guys use? could i use mobil 1 m105? m104?

I bought one that fits perfectly over the stock filter. I got mine at Autozone years ago. It's not an adjustable one. It's the size that fits all the Honda oil filters. You can put the cap over the oil filter and have it attached to your socket to easily get the filter off. I think it cost me $4-$5.

If its from the factory you can't take it off with your hand (i've tried it already ). What I did was buy a multi purpose filter wrench that adjusts to the size of the filter (since I have two cars with two diff filter sizes). The only problem to a variable filter wrench is it is harder to clamp ( imagine a pliers and socket wrench). But its all in one sorta thing. If you will be changing just ur s2k's oil and will be using the same filter which is the PCX-004 then I suggest you buying the fixed filter wrench.

I usually just handtight the filter, some may disagree but I don't want to use too much force using wrenching when tightening the filter. The filter has a torque limit so when your turning you'll feel a dead stop when its tight enough.

So to answer you two questions..

Where to buy : Since I got a variable wrench I picked it up at
autozone, for me it really doesn't matter
were as long as it fits.

What filter to use : Honda 15400-PCX-004

You can buy the filter at this site's marketplace or the dealer. Don't use replacement filters!..

Gud luck

I have one that looks like a strange pair of pliers. I used it for the first time last night, it worked well. It crushed part of the filter but who cares, you are throwing the filter away anyway. I am using this because I have different size filters for different cars. I got my from Pep boys.

i've been tightening my oil filters "hand tight" for the past 5-6 years now. i've never had a problem with it leaking or having it over-tightnened. just make it as tight as you can with your hand.
