final S2000 price
How much did you owners pay for the S2000, the final price, including tax, registration, and all other fees? I've talked to some dealers so far, and all I hear about is dealer markup from MSRP due to high demand and short supply.
You can easily get it for MSRP or under with just a little looking. I'm getting mine in a month or two from a dealer in Lafayette, LA for $31,500 plus taxes, which is $1340 under MSRP. Dealers here in Austin are charging MSRP, but I decided to save the money and go 400 miles to get mine. Call some dealers in Austin and San Antonio if all of the dealers are trying to screw you over in Houston.
Also, what someone in another state paid with taxes won't necessarily be the same as you'll pay since each state has different tax rates. I don't know yet what my taxes will be here in TX, but I'm guessing at $2000 or so.

After scouring every dealership within an hour's drive from Cleveland, I managed to get my 2002 for $30,600 before taxes (5.75%), title and other nonsense. I do recall that the bottom line was slightly below the sticker price of $32,840. That was in December 2001 (actually between Christmas and New Years Day).
Do keep in mind that it was 25 degrees and the snow was flying while I was negotiating.
In your case, for the savings it might be worth travelling to the colder climates to save a few grand. I'd just hate to break in the car with nothing but freeway miles.
Don't be afraid to scour all the dealerships in your area... the first guys I talked to were adamant on "full sticker or forget it" too.

We ordered ours at the end of jan. and it will be in next week. We could have bought it home sooner but we wanted a factory fresh one. One that has no miles on it. If we took one sooner it would have had about 100 or more miles on it, and no way of knowing if anyone had hit V-TEC or not. Plus the new garage wasn't done yet anyway.
When may dealer recieves his cars they come at night. When they get there in the moring the cars are all out back. He is going to call us and tell us its in and we are going to go up there and do the PDI with them to make sure they do it right. Ya know get out the spring spacers, make sure they don't scracth, look over the car for over spray, etc.... The dealer we got our car from has done everything we have asked them to.
I can't wait we have a pile of mods to install!!!!!!!! This waiting thing stinks!!!

I recall spending about 2 weeks worth of evenings and weekends talking to the various dealers in the area... usually started with a phone call to see if they had anything in stock or en route. Most dealers had one or two on hand. The MSRP dealers had at most one on the lot. The dealership I bought from had 5 on the lot: 3 MY2001's and 2 MY2002's. Fortunately for me, he had the color I was looking for. He was obviously the most motivated to move one off the lot (his 2001's could be had for under $30K). Keep in mind that the dealers are paying interest on their inventory, though it may not be a huge amount considering today's interest rates.
