Default Finally! 2004 S2k info....

Hey Guys,
Check out page 36 of August '03 Car and Driver. Honda will be sending over an updated S2k this fall. It will have a 240hp 2.2 liter with an improved hp/tq curve and revised front and rear fascias. The motor will have a lower redline and the tranny will have different gear ratios to complement the motor. Oh yeah, oval tailpipes and softer suspension.

No more "120 horsepower per liter"? Lower redline? I'm glad I got mine when I did. How do you think this will effect the value of the current S2k?

I have a feeling used 00-03 s2000's will be worth a grand or two more than they are now...

Remember the E30 M3? It had a 2.3litre 4 cylinder with an 8200+ redline and relatively lower torque than its 325i 6-cylinder siblings. Sure, it was more hassle to drive around town and the shifter buzzed like a busy bee, but yet those cars, more than 10 years later, still command 10 grand or more. They're holding value better than their E36 M3 successors. Something about those special engines that come out of factories every now and then.

I'd suggest, that as with the inception of any "new" model, current S2000 models will suffer a hiccup in decreasing resale values almost immediately. However, in the long term, read 7-10 years, buyers will aim for purchasing the more sought after, "original" S2000, hence encouraging resale.
