Finally...the Day has come
I just sold my 99 Vr-4 and started looking for a car to replace it with. I found a nice silver 00" S2k in LA with 11,700 miles in presitine condition. The owner just used in as his weekend car and garage kept in when it was not in use. The car does not have a single mod to it
and i could not be happier. We negotiated the price to 19,200 which i feel is a fair price for it. Tell me what you guys think
excellent price on a fine car. that thing is practically brand new.
i'd recommend a transmission and differential fluid change as soon as you can get to it.
post pictures when you get a chance and welcome to owner status.

I, as well as many others, feel that it is one of those things you should do immediately on a new car. So, considering your's is used and you don't know for sure when or if it was ever last done, I would just go ahead and do it asap but don't stress yourself or worry about it too much.
For transmission fluid I'd recommend sticking with Honda MTF if your shifter and gears are feeling fluid and fine otherwise there are a number of options you could choose from. Many here, including myself, have opted to use a GM transmission fluid called Synchromesh Friction Modified or the abbreviation we use here as GMFSM. You can research this and decide for yourself what fluid you want to go with.
For the differential there's many options as well. There isn't an over the counter, at least to my knowledge, fluid supplied by Honda like the MTF for the diff so most either use the Mobil 1 75W-90 gear oil available almost everywhere or the Lubrication Engineers LE607 that you can find here in the marketplace. The LE607 is a straight 90W which is what Honda specs technically call for but it has shown to be too thick for colder climates. Seeing as though you're in Maryland I would probably suggest sticking with the Mobil 1 year round unless you want to go with the LE607 in the spring and summer while switching back to the Mobil 1 in the colder seasons.

There's so much to read and learn about your car there. Should keep you busy for a few days.
As far as mileage on fluids is concerned I usually change both every 10k miles or every other engine oil change....whichever comes first.

Good advice.

Make sure the tires have adaquate tread on them. As many peeps are well aware of in this community,
as the tires begin to wear down, the S2K can get pretty sketchy in the rain, so be careful.

While I hate to rain on your parade, I'd recommend trying to find a 2002 or newer. With the '00 and '01, your prone to have to deal with the dreaded "clutch buzz" as well as you will probably dislike the plastic rear window shortly after it starts to fog and show creases if not meticulously cared for.
