Finally! Its Time!
Quite honestly, I think you're going to have a tough time buying the car at 18 years old. Most dealerships have attitudes a mile long when it comes to a younger generation buying a pricey vehicle. Definitely go somewhere reputable, preferably with a local referal for a specific salesman. Tell them your story so they understand you are serious about the car.
Make sure you know the car's value BEFORE you go, including invoice and what they are selling for. I'd agree with the folks here to buy ALL of your goodies AFTER THE FACT, especially since you're not financing anyway. Honda tends to jam you for most of that stuff.
FYI, not trying to be a d*ck but make sure you can GET insurance for it at your age, let alone being able to pay it, keeping in mind it requires full coverage. I'm 30 yrs old and still pay through the nose.

personally j@ck@$$ i think u should mind your own business and keep rude and unimportant remarks to yourself. actually i do have a civic too that i have been driving for 2 years now. so hate some more cause i have 2 cars. and when i get my s2 ill post pics of both jus so u can drool and hate some more. have a good day. and homer yea im still in school. 3 more months. keep the responses comin and i appreciate most peoples advice. if it feels neccesary to respond rudely to me maybe u shouldnt own or be associated with an s2. thanks!
sorry about your dad. I'm sure that the S2K will only put a small dent in the inheritance...just don't blow it all.
If it only eats up a small fraction of the money, then by all means go for it. Just be careful out there....These cars are harder to control in the wet than the civic.
As mentioned before, don't buy all the extras at the dealer. They will rip you off. Ask for a stock S2K without the options, because there really aren't any.
If you want the spoiler, hardtop, etc. get them from someone here. Also ignore all the interior protection program and other BS the dealer might want to sell you. Good luck.

actually buying an s2 would only be a fraction of the money i have inherited. not that its any of your business how i spend my money but my money has been invested into mutual funds. also, within the next 6 months i will be purchasing a house to rent out. the money earned monthly from the rentors will be added to savings and help pay for my tuition and college. im attending a local com. college. next term i will be start at the unviersity of maryland. im studying accounting and business managment so i can earn my mba. once i graduate i plan on opening my own business. and as far as the s2 this is what i want. i know purchasing an older turbo vehicle will give more power and torque. im not a snotty nosed little kid who knows nothin about the car. i have done my research for over a year now. also a supra's and vr4's are expensive. they range from at least 20k in good condition. you dont get a warranty, you dont know how the car has been treated and they also cost boat loads to moidify. all in all im buying an s because i appreciate honda technology and i want a convertible. another car i was considering was a porsche boxster s, but after driving one and then driving an s2 there is no comparison. street racing is dangerous and illegal. as well as risky as far as tickets and the police, so please spare me the lecture. you are the type of middle-aged moron who shoots young peoples dreams to hell and makes them feel inferior. how about keeping your rude comments to yourself.
Hey Squeezer,
1. You ASSume to know what his deceased Father intended for him to spend his money? Did you know him?
2. You ASSume the kid will be a torque whore and then tell him to get a different car? Do you know the kid now?
3. You ASSume to speak for ALL of us on S2KI by telling him not to post here anymore and again to not buy an S?
It may be time for you to take a step back and look at what you are presenting to this potential owner. Back off!
....and to BaDa$$rIo,
Go for it. If you can handle the insurance payments that is. They are going up and up as more claims are filed for poor driving and vandalism. Please don't try to contribute to these stats. You will find that MOST of the owners here are supportive and helpful. However, occasionally you will run into some that you will just need to ignore.
Good luck with your purchase. Know the dealers numbers before you go. Walk away if necessary.
Enjoy!!!!
