Default Finally test drove the s2000 with the top up

Hey guys, I am in the market for the s2k and i drove the car at staten island honda three weeks ago and really liked it. The dealer really let me push the car the way i wanted to. Anyways, two days ago, I head over to Rt 22 Honda and test drive at night with the top up. As i launched the car in first gear, it pulled fine, but when i did the first-second shift, the rear end gave out and started to fish tail around. I was shifting at about 9000 rpm. I was able to control the car but the dealer was shaken up....so i tried it again, and this time it worked fine... Afterwards i went back to the spot i launched the first time and noticed a little manhole/pothole. Could this have caused the rear end to give out when i shifted...any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh yea, the deal i am getting right now, is 2002 s2k for for 36 months and 12,000 miles a year. $600 due at signing and $380 a month including ny taxes.

top... what top?

yes, you have to be careful under full power- gravel, oil, change of road surface can all loosen up the rear and send it sideways. most often happens when turning too (which is why you should not full power when turning!)

How did you get such a low lease? I went to two dealerships and with 2 grand down, I could only lease for four years at $500.00 a month, so I said forget it and bought it instead of leasing it. A guy in my neighborhood lease one, five years and $550 a month, 12,000 miles per year. I've never heard of a lease that low. The car you are getting is brand new, no miles?

The numbers do not add up!! It is impossible! At 600 down the Honda web site says $450 and that doesn't add anything such as TT&L. It is an 02 but are they discounting that so much or do you have a trade in?

well, its a 2002 and i got the price down to $29,800. Now it is $1000 due at signing and $380 a month. But since i am a returning american honda customer, they waive the security fee which is about $400 and thus brings down the total at signing to $600. This is the 6th dealership i have been to so i really shopped around. I will probably have to wait about one more month till i can get the car b/c that is when my car will be sold. I am figureing that the car will stay in the lot for another month here in the NY winter. One of the dealerships i went to had two 2001's left over and he was selling those for around $26,500 with no miles. Those are still available and i don't see them going anytime soon. If i can wait till January(2003), i can probably get a stellar dealer on these cars.

So much for the break-in period.
