Default First Act of Vandalism, help!

Well it finally happened ... some idiot decided to take a black permanent marker and mark an area by the front emblem. I mean ... what the hell is the point of doing something like this? Pure jealousy I guess.

Anyway, I was wondering if you guys knew of any substance/chemical that I could use to remove the permanent marking? Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated. (The area is more or less 4 square inches.) Thanks in advance.

I would try mineral spirits. It will not hurt the finish, and should take the marker off!

That's the exact name of the product,go to a hardware/paint store and ask for it.They won't look at you like you're crazy.

Psicho54,

sorry to hear about your mishap, was your car parked outside?

i am not sure what you can use to take the ink out, but whatever you use, make sure you try it out in a small area first.. and make sure that the thing isnt that abbrasive which might take the paint off the car

Yes. It's also known as "paint thinner". Do not confuse this with "laquer thinner" which will damage your paint.

It is also sold at auto parts stores.

Well that was a quick fix ... the "mineral spirits" worked like a charm. Came right off with a bit of rubbing.

Once again, you guys ROCK.

WD-40 works great on cleaning the counter sunk area around the lug nuts, spray it on a Q-Tip.
