first day at track with my STOCK s2k
hey guys this is my first time at a track nevermind with my s2k. lol my car is stock and i was running bald BALD potenzas lol, but the vht made up for that. My best run was 14.9 @ 93mph.... Is that an ok run for crap tires and noob launches? If you guys are getting way better times, i would like to know how you launch without putting TOO MUCH stress on the diff. because i was cautious oabout damaging my differential i only launched at 5k... do you guys pop your clutch or do you slip it.
Any input guys.
And for those with mods on their car (NA) what kinda times are you guy running?

If all you want to do is go fast in a straight line, buy a Mustang or something. Your car is meant for the twisties.
I've always loved going to the drag strip. You can do a burnout, launch the car and go over 100mph without worrying about getting pulled over. You also become a better driver and see if your mods are giving you better times.
$15 test and tune at the 1/4 mile track is cheaper than a $50-100 dyno session, and its a lot more fun too

I love how these theads turn into people bitching about how the s2000 isn't a drag car. Well no shit, but its the best Honda platform to use. I don't see in his post where he asked anyones opinion on if he should drag race his car.
To the op, launching at 5k is worse than launching at a higher rpm. The whole point is to break traction to take the stress off of the diff. Try 7500-8000 next time with a quick drop of the clutch, don't slip it. Your mph is definately low, I'm guessing either you're at a high elevation or you can't shift all that well.

so it's better to drop my clutch at 8000(i have an ap2) than let's say 5000?
also.. is my CDV helping me keep my car in one piece... coz it defeats the whole purpose of dropping my clutch(since it will slide anyway).
