First Drive This Year
My S2000 has been in the garage since December 20 of last year. I tried starting it back in February, but the weather was still very cold and it turned over too slowly to start. This past Sunday, March 11, the temperature was in the 50's, so I tried again and it started on my first attempt.
My ride was somewhat frustrating. The state toopers were out on the highways and the local police were patrolling the back roads. SUV's were constantly in my way as well. It was also very windy and I almost got blown off the road.
The S2000, ran fine, however, after the long layoff and I now have just over 10,000 miles, with no problems so far.

ewcollins,
congratulations on your first drive... i just got my red/black on feb. 23rd, and am planning on storing it in the garage for the next winter... did you do anything special before you stored it / before you started it last weekend?
thanks for the help.

I did not do anything special, other than putting on the Honda Dust Cover (08P34-S2A-100 - $166.80).
To start it, I took of the cover, turned the key, pushed the button and it started!

really? i'm surprised... no jackstands, oil changes, top up/down? fuel level full? did you start in once in a while during storage? wow, i thought this winter i would put my stook on jackstands to keep me from the temptation of driving it during the winter...
Most of us in the Chicago area put the car on jackstands, add fuel stabilizer, remove the battery, and cover the car. I do this will all my cars and they start and run fine after 4 to 5 months slumber!

My winter storage procedure was to fill the gas tank, put the car on jack stands, remove wheels, wash car, cover car and change the oil - not in that order.
I put mine away the first week of November and I have driven it once (sometime in January I think). I returned the car to the stands after that drive. The car started fine and ran fine.
I'm really looking forward to Spring - it's going to be a great season.
