First Oil Change
Hi, all, just took it to LB Honda for the first oil change, and based solely on what I have read here, I requested a tranny and diff fluid change as well. My tech (good guy and trustworthy) said, "Just so I'm doing my job, you know this is not a Honda-recommended fluid change" and I said no problem. When I picked the car up, he told me he spoke to his tech who said it WAS in fact a good idea to do what I did. Thanks to everyone here for the great info!!
My tech now knows all about this forum.
Thanks, all, I will check and make sure. So far the car feels REALLY smooth, with no strange noises, and I have a good ear for that stuff.
NJnogaro, I had 3600+, which I believe is the first suggested change....
apex2K, what type of noise should I be listening for, and from where? Thanks!
Mike

Probably not, but you wouldn't be hurting anything to change it either. (Except the environment and your wallet, but what are you gonna do?)
Nicotunes,
Most have complained of a groaning sound under normal driving conditions. I believe you can normally expect some noise under hard cornering, ie. parking the car, but this is just the diff doing its job. You should be looking for any new "road noise" coming specifically from the rear (the cars rear, not yours).

Just to quell any fears, my car was near 23K when I finally did the diff fluid. No problemo. I don't track the car though.
Please note, the shop manual lists 15K intervals for extreme and 30K for the diff under normal conditions. I agree with apex, of course, that changing it sooner is not going to hurt anything. Transmission fluid, by the way, is 30K extreme and 90K for normal. Same comment applies here. I haven't done my tranny yet, but will at 30K or so.
