Default First at red light in intersection.

Here is the scenario. The light is red and you're first. When light turns green, do you gun it??? It certainly is an opportunity to vtec fully without worrying about traffic in front of you. On a side note, i was told never to gun it since there is a possibility of someone running the red light at the oposite direction which can result in a side impact if you decide to gun it when light turns green. Just want to see how everyone else drives when faced with this scenario.

Follow your friend's advice...I gunned it years ago and a fully loaded dumptruck, fresh from the rock quarry, ran the redlight and creamed me. That car is no longer with us...

I don't "gun it" at stoplights. My first reaction is safety for pedestrians and other drivers. I simply cruise it into first, glide it into second, accelerate into third and take my time.

I only gun it if there is a row of stopped traffic at the cross lights. They run them all the time here is TX.

Green=Go
Yellow=Go Faster
Red = Time for 2 more cars.

If the greenlight is at the track, I gun it. On public roads, I play it almost anti-sportscar. It draws enough unwanted attention as it is and there's far too many enthusiastic cops in my area. I pretty much save it for the track but I don't drive mine daily. I don't think I could withstand the temptation and would probably be out one driving license before too long. VTEC ownz me.

Defensive driving courses generally will teach you to hesitate 1-2 seconds before proceeding into an intersection at the start of a "green" if you are the first one in line. Plus, always look in the direction of the traffic that will hit you first (usually to the left) before and as you proceed.

Hell yeah...gun it and get far enough ahead that you can do a big smoking donut in the middle of the intersection before continuing across ahead of everyone else.

Don't gun it away from an intersection !!!!

Likely to get smacked by the light runners. If you're lucky and get through the intersection unscathed, the police is likely to be waiting for you down the street. Intersections are dangerous and sites of frequent traffic violations (read - easy tickets) therefore police is always nearby.
