Default First service - what does the dealer do?

Ok, well the time has come for my first service/oil change on my car. I'm wondering if anybody knows exactly what the dealler is suppose to do during this. I don't want to pay alot of money for them to change my oil and "inspect" things when I can easily do that myself and not worry about something getting screwed up. I'm guessing the basic stuff is there like tire pressure and brake inspection, but is there anything that is more complicated? Thanks.

They are there to separate you from your money. The first service is just an oil change.

You should consider a diff fluid change also. If you can do an oil change, you can do a diff fluid change. There are people that have done them as early as 4,000mi and seen all kinds of crud in there. I believe it's part of the break-in for the diff. I did mine at about 5,000 mi or so.

Thanks guys. Definitely NOT going to the dealer now. I'm always skeptical about their work and try to do as much myself as possible. I'm actually going to take it to a local sponsor b/c I'm getting some other things done while I'm at it.

High temp brake fluid
Rear diff fluid
oil/filter change
Replace 05 clutch slave with my03

Thanks for the advice.

yeah DIY...definitely nice to bond with your S

re the 04/05 slave mod - I'm now running an 04 slave with the delay valve removed...save yourself the 55/60 bucks purchase price of the 03 slave.

billman250 did a write up in under the hood - search of slave cylinder should find it.

I pulled the 03 slave cylinder I had on my last S (MY04) so I'm set with that. Definitely a great change. You definitely don't want to launch it without one or take it to a track day.
