if he had stopped me for speeding, i would have accepted my fate! instead, i get stopped this morning... pulls me over and the first thing he says is "sir, first i must tell you that this is an absolutely gorgeous car!" - (like we didnt know that) then he tells me that i ran a stop sign, and that it was recorded. he goes back to his car and comes back with a ticket. i asked when i can see the tape. he takes me to the car and we watch it. i clearly did not run the sign and he knew that i was right. since he had already written the ticket he told me that i would have to go to court (the tape shows the second line of the crosswalk only- every car i watched on the tape stopped there; which is a late stop. i stopped at the first line- where you are suppossed to stop. i was accelerating at the second line which is what he was recording). his tape will not prove either side of the case. the lesson is to ask to view the tape immediately. if he had seen it before he wrote the ticket, he would not have given me a ticket!!

Dont you hate that !
Especially when they are the youngin' cops, Im 25 but I hat it when a 20 year old cop just has to show how tough he can be, and I think that if that goes on long enough, they end up being stubborn old cops!

The female officers are alot nicer to me

Hey wanabe,

That totally sucks!!! I didn;t know the cops had cameras?? Where did you get stopped, on Lincoln??? At least you can contest it. Sounds like you have a pretty good shot at winning.

finally, the end to this ticket!
i fought the ticket by "affidavit". the court never got my affidavit so they found me guilty! then i got smart and hired a lawyer. today i finally got my "not guilty" marked "interest of justice"... anyone know what that means?

Congrats Wanabe! "In the interest of justice" means one thing and one thing only. You successfully introduced what is known as "reasonable doubt". There was reasonable doubt by the photographic evidence that you committed the offense...so in the interest of justice the notice to appear was dismissed.

P.S. If you see a nice Yellow 360 Modena on Goldenrod that's my friend Bob. Tell him Utah sent you...and if your lucky he make take you for a ride in his Beech Starship .

Got a question. If anyone can answer for Canada it'll be even better. I was caught running a red light once (I was turning right) and I'm sure it wasn't recorded can I say that he had no proof except him being eyewitness?

This is what happened. When I was approaching the turn the light was green. And it turned red when I was only a little aways of turning so I decided to step on the gas a little bit instead of having to do a full stop. It's a huuuge intersection. The cars that were about to get the green light are far far away from me.

My main prob was the attitude of the officer. He asked me why I ran the red light and I told him cause it was dangerous for me to stop that rapidly since it was raining quite a bit at that time. He kept on saying WRONG ANSWER. Seriously everytime I said it he just said WRONG ANSWER. I wanted to swear at him so bad.

I think I can sue him. He's suggesting that I'm a liar.

Anyhow. Theoretically I did run the red light. But it is within reasonable doubt that it was indeed too dangerous for me to stop. I was approaching the intersection when it suddenly turned red. You really could argue about it. And the cars that were about to go were nowhere near me so it wasn't like it was a dangerous action.

Alright... I forgive you Howie That sounds like a very maddening officer that stopped you, and I agree with your logic about it being safer to just turn through instead of stopping so fast.

But.... I don't wanna argue no more... but... hehe.... how does an intersection suddenly turn red? Where do you live? Do they have an intermediary yellow light before the red there?

I'm not saying I'm right. It was a close call that leaned more toward me being wrong. But I just want to know for future reference what I can do. And can I do anything about the officer who kepts on telling me I gave him the wrong answer?
