Default First year flew by!

I kept watching for 1 Dec - the one year anniversary of picking up my S2000. Guess what? It was suddenly late yesterday that I remembered!

One year, daily driver: sun, rain, snow. Regardless of conditions, I always enjoy driving it. When it's warm and the top is down, I do this: About 8800 miles, 382 gallons of gasoline. 22.9 mpg average, 18.6 worst, 28.2 best.

I've washed and "waxed" (Zaino) this car more times this year than I did my previous car in eight years. I've purchased things from Rick and Muz and HandA and Zaino and Properautocare. I've found rock chips but no door dings (my personal goal was no door dings for the first year).

I found this site and tons of information (and became a member). After many years of driving a stick, I just started trying heal-and-toe downshifting (still need practice). I've regained my appreciation for RWD - many years since I drove RWD, but I learned when FWD was unheard of and was pleasantly surprised that my RWD skills survived the interim.

Holy cow - do I have a life outside this car?

Who cares!
Tony

I also hit the one year mark back in October and have been lucky to not only have ding free doors and fenders but a chip free front end to boot.Maybe stuff just bounces off the front end if ya keep waxing it.

My 1 year Anniversary of owning the S was November 13th. Yeah, it went by fast. 30,000 miles, when the weather is nice I can't get enough of driving this car.

It's parked for the winter now. I don't like it but.....I'll keep some miles off it.

I have one door ding and several rock chips. the door ding happened in my driveway by a family member , As careful as I am with the car in parking lots etc, park as far away as I can.....it happens in my own driveway go figure

It's a car and if you drive it these things will happen.

I just passed 8 months and 6,800 miles. I'm still smiling and looking for excuses to take my S2000 out on the road!

Although I have not reached my 1-year anniversary yet (4/16/03) I suspect I'm all done driving my S for the first year. It is now packed away in the garage under its blankie, waiting for spring. I think we have about 6" of snow on the ground right now.

In the 22 weeks I was able to drive it I got up to 11,500 miles, averaging a wonderful 522 miles per week. I got in 1 auto cross, 1 driving school, 2 local S2000 drives, 2 Canadian S2000 drives and just a whole lot of exploring!

I would also like to point out that I have had zero mechanical problems with the car. I can claim to be door ding free but I can not claim to be stone chip free, that comes with the territory when you do driving schools, and I have one nasty crack in the front window.

The best gas mileage I have seen was on the second tank of gas. Putting along like an old lady doing my break in miles I got a 33-mpg. Since then I think I have only checked the mileage twice, it was in the low 20's and that amazes me for how hard I typically drive.

I have a list of things I would like to do to the car this winter, but mostly I just want spring to get here so I can go VTECing again!

And how could I not post a pic!?!

I still can't believe this beauty is mine...

Motorhead - nice pic. What's that you have between the front plate mount holes?

Triple-H - great looking car!

Pinky - I'm looking forward to three years and more.

Everyone - thanks for sharing. Nice to know door dings can be kept away for a while. I also park out in the boonies when I can. Gotta watch those family members, though, eh vmoul? Here in the real windy city, even good, careful folks can cause a ding when the door gets away from them.
