Default Fitting Soft Top Roof Cover

How the heck do you get those 2 snaps behind the seats to snap to the roof cover?

I have no problem snapping the other 2 to the sides, but I can not get down far enough to get the 2 behind the seats.

I always just push down and wiggle the tonneau cover around. Eventually it will pop onto those button things.

I have wondered the same thing for two months now. No matter how much wiggling I do, I cant get the damn thing in for the life of me.

First get the whole thing in its "final" position. Then just kind of "hook" one of them(place snap over nub without pushing all the way on) without engaging the button snap. Go to the side elastic, give each one a twist ( to lessen wind flapping) and snap those buttons. and tuck the back flanges under the lip. Give a couple of palm smacks to be sure its all seated and go. I have done this up to 107mph and the cover shows no signs of coming off. You dont need to snap each one of those things from the underside. I did that the first couple of times and it scrapes the heck out of your arms getting under there.

until i had my top elastics replaced, i couldnt get it to fit. the top has a bar that should fold back (pulled by the straps) as the top retracts. when it doesn't retract this bar, the top is *slightly* higher than it should be, and the cover won't fit.

Lay the boot out across the folded top. Fasten the elastic strap and adjacent marine fastener on the first side. Place your hand underneath the boot near the next fastener and guide it onto the fastener; it will engage easily. Repeat for other side in the same order. Fit trailing edge of boot under reveal futilely attempting to engage the two tabs. They will pop up eventually anyway, but at least it looks nice initially.

I was thinking the same thing. I just bought an 02 that still had the cover in the original unopened plastic. And yes it was very dusty.
