I'm just venting, so click on the back button if you don't wanna hear me rant about how unimportant I feel both as a Honda S2000 owner and a retailer.

Anyway, has anyone noticed the crappy customer service from your friendly local shops? "A what? 2000 Honda what?" "A Honda 2000? We don't sell motorcycle parts." "I'll call you back." is the typical reply, and you'll never EVER hear from them again unless you call them back.

As a retail customer of some of the large aftermarket manufacturers and distributors, I am seeing some pretty BAD customer service and attitudes around lately. Not only do they call us names ("Jobber" is the usual name, but I've heard some other ones I care not repeating), they look down on retailers as if we're not important enough to deal with them. I'm giving them A LOT of MONEY for crying out loud, and they spit in your face or simply ignore you. And when I do follow ups on orders I place? "Please leave a message after the tone." I leave messages after messages, no reply in DAYS. Finally I go to someone else in the same department, and the original guy gets pissed, then went ahead and forbid all further communique. "You'll have to talk to him, sorry." and "Click!" Is what I heard. Fine, I'll talk to him, but first HE'S GOTTA PICK UP THE FORNICATING PHONE! I know I'm not the only customer, but come ON!

Maybe I'm spoiled, but when I email or call someone in regards to giving them money for their products, I expect a reply in a timely manner. Is that too much to expect?

I hear ya mingster. The truth is the auto industry as a whole has terrible customer service compared to others. You can be sure that if I bought a $32K something else they would be coming to me to fix it not the other way around. This has been the way it is for generations. Few industries have as bad a reputation for scams, ripoffs and bad service and none more deserving.
