Stock S2000s are most definitely drag limited.
You don't run into gear limitations unless you're FI or you've got a shorter final gear.

yup and if you've been to Germany only off-peak hours allow for that kind of speeding. During rush hour it's not as fast.

We have a stigma with speed here. I wonder why?

I'm been thinking about this.

The ap1 might be drag limited because it's gearing allows for higher potential speed, however since the motor produces about 10% less power at the wheels the car cannot use all the gearing.

The ap2 produces more power and has a lower potential for high speed.

I'm gathering this by reviewing videos of both cars. The AP1 will achieve higher top end speeds (drag) be it a range, maxing out at 168mph while the Ap2 is constantly 155mph (gearing).

It might also be noted that some folks won't ever get to the true max based on their altitude. Many of us near sea level produce the most power possible. While folks at higher elevations will naturally produce less, limiting their top end.

My theory is back up with the second data point, dyno days. At the same dyno days it's become known that ap1's average 19Xhp while Ap2's 21Xhp.

I believe there are two ways manufacturers rate the limit of cars. Chip & drag limited. Since the car is not chipped, by default it's considered 'drag' limited. However the reality appears both versions are limited by different factors.

Yes, I think of way to many things. Yes, I could put my cycle time to better use. You need not tell me I already hear it enough from my wife.

According to the gear calculator, AP2's 6th gear tops out at 175.8 mph which an AP2 will never reach stock.

Don't rely on videos. One AP1 owner hit a very high top speed because it was downhill.

Do you have a link for that gear calculator?
The one I have says that the AP2 tops out at 151mph and the AP1 tops out at 165.4mph.
