Fog Light Install for the S2000 (Pics)
All right. . .now that I have been PM'd about 20 times (hehe - I love it!), I have decided to go back and take some pics of my S2000 with the PIAA fog lights installed in the fake air ducts.
Photo #1 is a close up shot of my PIAA's (model series 1200) http://www.piaa.com/displayLamp.php3?inc=1200.html
These are some great photos after my wonderful ZAINO experience!
Photo #2 is an angle shot with the PIAA's. . .
Photo #3 shows the switch. . .this is wired with the lights. I can run the PIAA's with my HID's or just my parking lights but not by themselves!
Photo #4 is the bracket that had to be made for the PIAA's to be installed. . .nothing fancy as you can see here!
This is the driver's side PIAA. For this shot, I took off the tire and took off the splash guard. . .I believe this is the easiest way to attempt this type of installation. The "professional" I had to install the PIAA's jacked the car up and worked on it from the bottom. . .
Just an extra shot here of the same thing above. . .
Just a recap photo. . .
Thanks to everyone who was interested in these lights. . .ever since I first took delivery of my S2000, I searched everywhere for something to work in the fake air ducts. . .to me, it seemed like the car was missing something! I tried doing an install myself and was not happy with it. That's when I turned to a professional installer that is certified by PIAA. He has done several "custom" installations such as this one for all types of cars including his Mazda RX-7 and Toyota Supra (both of them turbos. . .). All together, between the PIAA's and installation, I spent less than $300 (I believe it was something like 270-280).
I am sure many of you can complete this installation for much less. There are several companies that make a good series of lights such as these and the cost varies significantly!
If anyone has any questions that I have not answered, please feel free to post here and I will let you know what I can!

Mindcore: They are great. . .although I have had some folks say they don't like the different light (HID's vs. Halogens), I think they look awesome! It gives the car a very aggressive stance at night! The light patterns/look is similar to a TL, CL, RL or even a Lexus LS430! Those cars incoporate HID technology but they leave the fogs/driving light halogen!
They are bright and fill in a lot of the surrounding without blinding folks!

Neat looking job airgate. My questions are:
1. Did you use the clear driving or ion crystal and why did you make that choice.
2. Where did you buy them.
3. I assume the trickiest part of the install is cutting a round hole of the right size and right location in the fake grill. Correct?
Thanks in advance for your answers

Airgate,
Your foggies look great! You might want to try to replacing the bubs with a "hyperwhite" bulb. I use to have them in my PIAA 1100X's on my Prelude. It's a pure white bulb. Absolutely no yellow! Can't wait to see the install in person at the Dragonball.

Answers to your questions.
1. The ion crystal is actually a "yellow" fog driving lamp and I prefer the clear driving to that look. Also, the ion crystal has a "blue" reflective glow to it and I felt that would throw off the look of the car. . .hence my decision.
2. I purchased them through the installer (a business by the name of Trucker's Toy Store).
3. Actually, this is the easiest because they used a drill mounted "hole" cutter that cuts to specific measurements.
Hope this helps!
