All I know is that seat belt saves lives. Airbags may HELP save lives. If sitting a proper distance from the steering, air bags should not really come into play in a crash. All those other side curtains etc., just an over cautious industry trend. When in an accident, it is pure luck/fate + wearing set belts that determines how well/bad you come out if it, not air bags.

Standard safety testing is the neutral way to test, which is why we do it. Accident statistics add the driver's element to the story.

Mainly, they say, due to its young, inexperienced and hoontastic driver base.
So they say the car is unsafe because of the driver base? Which is it -- the car or the driver?

my one buddy t-boned a guy in an intersection with a 1990 rx7 no air bag and the seat belt saved him. another buddy in a 93 rx7 t-boned a guy about 6 months later had a seat belt on that didn't lock up and ended up breaking his collar bone and nose. so i agree that it's not the car that makes it safe it's the variables and if the seat belt locks up. you always see the fender benders where people have broken bones, then you watch cops and see people running and get hit by 18 wheelers in a 88 chevy full size pick up and walk away no problem.

i'm 6'3 so my head is about 2 inches above the roll hoops and i landed upside down aftergetting launched into the air when i was in the canyons....weight of the car was supported by the windshield frame. and i was still securely planted in my seat by the seatbelt. i dont know what else can be a true testimony to the safety of this car..i have an ap2 now. RIP ap1

Nice thing is, with excellent brakes, handling, and power, you can avoid accidents a lot more easily in an S2000 too.

I had a lady dive out in front of me (turning across traffic) the second week I had the S2000 and I had no problem hammering the brakes to a stop despite minimal reaction time and distance. Scared the crap out of her, though.
