It goes around a bolt on your seat. Check under the seat

Check your rear view mirror. It goes around the base where it attaches to the windshield.

That is soo funny. When I purchased my car this same piece was sitting in the cup holder. When I asked about it, noone knew anything. The owner of the detail shop said the previous owner did not know where it went. Now I know.
Thanks

lol...

I have the exact same part that seems to just float around my car. I found it originally in the secret compartment and I must've taken it out and thrown it in the cupholder, then it ended up under my seat, then it sat on the passenger seat for a while. I put it in the map pocket on the passenger side, then I found it on the floor again, now it's sitting on the workbench in my garage. After just over a year I've finally found a home for this thing.

I'm heading out to the garage right now...
