Default Found a wholesale source for inexpensive LED arrays

For those who have been looking for super bright but inexpensive LED arrays to replace the incandescant bulbs in the side markers, turn signals, map light, back-up lamps, brake lights, etc, we have found a source that makes these things in both wedge and bayonet mount versions. We have some samples on the way and if they live up to expectations when we test them we'll offer them as an option for our sidemarker and diffuser conversion stuff. We hope to be able to test them early next week and report what we find.

Based on my previous experiences with LEDs, I have to say that I'm not optimistic

My LED's for the sidemarkers are GREAT! They were about $10 for the set and look great, IMO. Here are some pics.

I have no issues with them whatsoever. No "weird" blinking order or coloration issues. Nice.

Our site is down and we're checking into it. Weird, since we're on the same server as S2ki.com.

Thanks to you, Airgate, many of ushave this LED array and it's a great value and works great. The side marker LED we're researching is a single superbright LED with a special lens that makes it viewable from a wider angle.

We're mainly concerned about finding an inexpensive LED array that works well in the front turn signal sockets under the clear corners. The ones I've found are expensive (about $15 each retail) and not bright enough.

Rick...remember these 10 words: "I will definitely want front turnsignal bulbs immediately upon availability!!!"

- Dave

PS. *IF* LEDs could do anything whatsoever to add life to our rear brakelights, then I'd be up for as set there as well.

I have a source as well, made by the aftermarket division of Koito, the origional manufacturers of our headlamp assembly. They are a single LARGE and VERY bright LED for side marker and parking lights...Rick, give me a call if your sources dont work out, as I can get them for around $15 a pair in white, blue, amber and red-yeah I know only amber and white will sell.....

I bought all the bulbs that can be replaced in our car in LED version.I bought the interior lights to be replaced with white ones.
I found them very cheap.
Here is the order of the Leds i bought:
#4-7443 with 9 red leds, two for my CBR 600F4 and two for my car
#4-1156 yellow with 12 leds.I cant make theese work with my car because of their low power drain.Have to sort that out.
#2 yellow single with wide angle for side markers,Not good.poor light, chap dow 0.79$.
#2 3022 interior lights white,poor light.
#2 under the front blinker, position light with 4 leds on them,White.Good.
#1 white single led in the trunk, poor light.
everything about 50$.
pictures with the car when i get it from the shop,Smashed my front bumper.
The yellow 1156 are not the same with the stock ones. The pins on the stock ones are with an angle and the led ones are opposite of each other.
I havent solved the problem with the blinking cos they dont blink.
I plan to solve it when i get my car back,if somebody can help me about that please do.
If you want pictures of all the bulbs and the site i will post them if asked.

Inexpensive LED's check www.superbrightleds.com but for me they are not that bright compare to the LED's in my company we are working on, but they expensive.

I've not done this fix myself, but I understand the problem. Try installing a 10 ohm 20 watt resistor in place of every turn signal bulb you replaced with LED's. The LED company might even make a resistor specifically for your application, you might ask them.

Airgate and others dont have a problem because they only changed the side marker bulbs and the total current drain did not change much. When you change the main turn signal bulbs it makes a significant difference in current and the car will either think one bulb is burned out and blink funny, or the blinking circuit won't operate at all.

Me, I spent mega-dollars and put VW side markers in, which already have LED's and are nearly flush with the car. But then I have to live up to the "modifry" name, don't I?
