Went down to watch VA S2k's and 1RandyC's dyno in Virginia yesterday and picked up a nail on the way home. Took it to a tire place and was told that the nail is too close to the sidewall and can not be fixed! Supposed to autox today, but I guess that's out 7500 mi and already have to get new S02's for the rear. It came to $400 from tirerack, only $17 2 day FedEx. Im surprised how cheap shipping is for this puppies. Just venting I suppose.

I had almost the same thing a few months ago. Had a little over 5,000 miles and picked up two nails. One was in the tread area and they could fix without any problems, the second one was near the sidewalls.

Bridgestone dealer said he could try and patch it, but would not guarantee that it would hold.

Well, 7,000 miles later, still hasn't lost a pound of air. Guess I got lucky. The Bridgestone dealer had quoted me a list price of $425 for the tire (yes, one tire!).

Seen the threads here, and yep, Tireack is by far the least expensive, tire $173 per tire now plus shipping (and then to find a tire place to mount them.

Bill,

Sorry to hear about your nail! I totally feel your frustration dude. Ching told me what happened at the auto-X yesterday. It seems you and I have been victims of the S-02s soft compound rubber. I replaced both of my rears at 3700 miles, then again at 6200 miles (just one replacement this time) because of f**k**g nails!
