My 04 has started doing this recently. Looks like it'll be making a trip to the dealer! Thanks for the info, OP!

MY00 cars have an official, NHTSA safety recall on the seatbelts. There is no mileage restriction on such recalls.

I think I've said this a few times, but I took my '89 Civic Si to the local Honda dealership and had the front belts replaced @ 200k for free. The belts were almost 20 years old and fraying on the edges. The service department didn't even bat an eye.

To top it all off I had Momo Start seats and was so heavily modified that the only factory-original item was the shell/glass.

Honda's commitment to safety (or at least not getting sued) FTW!

I still can't get my passenger seat belt to untwist. Previous owner had twisted the buckle that slides on the belt 180 degrees. blah

im pretty sure seatbelts were only a problem on MY00....can someone verify?

and different manuafacturers have different "safety restraint" warranties. they probobly replaced it under some federal safety restraint warranty,,,, kinda like extended federal emissions ya know?
This is a different situation-- there was a recall on some early VIN MY00s because the top, when in the down position, would rub against the passenger's seatbelt causing it not to work properly. The fix was a new top

It wasn't the top - it was the boot cover.
