Default FREE Snap on ratchet with TSB work?????

Maybe I am special......I had the spark plug TSB and the clutch disk replaced last week. Tonight I open up my hood and find a really nice Snap on ratchet. I think I will keep it. I all ready had VERY little faith in the dealership as it was, but this is too much. What to do????????
Do you think this is a big deal? Should I call them or just let it slide and keep the small gift as a memento of the last business the dealership ever gets from me? I will let you decide.

I would also like to send someone a picture of my old pressure plate, which they made me pay to have replaced....I don't trust these people at all. Did I mention grease on my console????

That's pretty amusing .

Snap-On tools are very nice, but rather than keeping it, I'd take it back to the service manager and see his reaction. How he responds will tell you a lot about the culture of the shop and whether you should consider returning to that dealer. If you do take it back, let us know what happens.

If the Pressure plate was worn out it should be replaced - are you concerned that it was not worn? If so, please submit a photo.

As a rule you should never leave a dealership without opening your hood. I always open it to make sure that the did spill any fluids or anything similar to what you experienced happened.

The tool is normally property of the mechanic, not the dealership. It is sloppy work to lose your tools.. you can decide to keep it or not but I would not give it to the service manager. I have a few tools courtesy of dealership mechanics over many years.

I'd take it back. It just seems the decent thing to do. I know I've misplaced a tool or two over the years.

I called the dealer. They are expecting it's return. Stealing is not cool.

Just kidding man!

You are correct. I didn't mean for the tool to be returned to the service manager, it really should be given back to the mechanic that owns it. I thought it would be interesting to find out the response of the service manager when he was confronted with the fact that one of the dealer's mechanics left a tool in the car. Showing him physical evidence would be part of the strategy. How he responded would tell you a lot about the shop that he supervises.

I think I will return the ratchet on Monday. I know stealing is not cool....but don't tell on me!!!!

Any way as I said I have no confidance in the dealership. They will thank me for returning their tool and that will be it, I am almost sure. And yes I don't think the pressure plate was worn out, but I have never had to replace one on any of the cars I have driven. Who can I e mail a photo to?????

Thanks for the input.

Yeah,

I had a whole Snap-On kit (small set) set in the passenger-side floorboard my car and a Portable CD player.....

I returned them both with a few nice comments.

I suspect the "record" for this type of thing is one S4 owner who, upon picking up his car from the dealer, found a vial of crack in the armrest...
