Freedom
Today I felt like going for a drive. It was a beautiful day, partly cloudy and not too hot. I drove for nearly two hours to a place called Possum Kingdom Lake by way of wonderful roads through rolling hills and nice curves. In the distance no civilization was apparent, only mesas separated by thick cedar breaks.
The observation point at the lake overlooked the dam from 100-foot cliffs. The lake and dam were built in 1941 at a cost of $9,000,000. I read this on an historical marker, took a whiz, got back in the car and drove home. It was a great day, made special by a top-down roadster; but, I am one red beet of a boy tonight.
