I was just on my way back from getting lunch and I saw a Silverstone/Black coming up next to me. We were side-by-side and exchanged greetings, then I asked if he knew about the website. He said no, so I gave him the info.

Then he asked me what year my car is, and I told him "02". He asked me if it has a clock, and i said "Yeah." He smiled and said, "That's because of me!"

He then pulled into a Grocery Store parking lot, so I followed him in, and asked him if he wanted to see the clock. He did, and said that he complained about not having a clock in his car to his friend who knows the brother of the designer of the s2000.

He also said that he got his car two months after they came out. I showed him the glass rear window, and the sample McGard Seat Locks on my driver's seat. I told him my screen name and my real name, but he didn't tell me his name. He said "Nice meeting you," and then he kind of rushed off into the store.

When I was driving away, I was thinking, "Damn, I should of got his name!" It would be interesting to see if we could get some of our opinions through to the source in Japan. I would love to give my input on the anti-theft equipment that is so needed for the s2000 here in the U.S. -Honda could really do it right.

I think the guy was legit. He was a middle-aged, well-spoken, friendly guy.

Some of his words could be true, but i still don't thank him for the clock... that was bound to happen ya know! Honda knows not everyone that drives the s2000 bought it to only "enjoy the road" and not worry bout time... many think a simple clock is a must in any car, weather it's an s2000 or McLaren, i'd like to know the time!
Does that guy think noone else had the car 2 months after it came out? it's not like Honda made it and decided for 2 months we'll just have the car sitting at dealers but not one person can own one just yet!!!
Him taking credit for the clock is like one of us taking credit for the rear glass window b/c we said something to our honda dealer LOL!!!!!!!
sounds like that guys an idiot to me!

Well, I thought it was a pretty wild statement.

I'm sure I've seen at least a hundred complaints posted here about the early models having no clock. Considering that the car is sold worldwide, I find it dificult to believe that one person, here in Hollywood, could actually be responsible.

But I do believe that he gave his opinion about the clock to his friend, etc. I'm just thinking that the connection to Honda Japan might really be there.

I think he was only displaying his enthusiasm for the car, when he told me about getting it so soon after it came out. He didn't seem bigheaded, or pretentious at all. He also said "I really love this car."

Who knows, maybe he received a phone from the big man himself (Toshiro Honda?) thanking him for the great clock idea!

Yeah, the clock on the radio. The early models didn't have it.

I agree that he seemed to know very little about the s2000, compared to our average website member, but I thought he was a nice guy.

He said his friend knows the brother of the designer of the S? Aw c'mon now, you don't really believe this do you? Haven't you heard anything about Urban Legends and hoaxes? The unifying thread in them is that someone "heard from a friend who knew someone who was actually involved in ______" and you can fill-in the blanks with whatever you want. This guy was yanking your chain, plain and simple.
